BOARDING

Being at the centre of an extensive rural area, Graeme College's boarding facilities have always been a very important feature of the School. Of necessity they provide a home for many who would otherwise not have access to quality education. Every effort is made to ensure that boys have a safe and secure environment with facilities for study and recreation.

Grant House (the main hostel) caters for about 130 boarders. The hostel is under the supervision of the Headmaster and is staffed by qualified matrons and support staff and a resident complement of three teachers and four student tutors.

Appreciating that the very young require special arrangements, the School invested in a nearby residential property and we run this as a boarding facility for six boys from the Junior Primary Phase. They are accepted into the School as weekly boarders and live as the extended family of a member of the teaching staff. Wallace house is the ideal home environment that provides security, care and nurturing that helps shape the young "men" into confident and well adjusted Graemians.

Regular study periods are set; attendance at major sporting and cultural functions is strongly encouraged and regular contact with the girls at Victoria Girls' High School is fostered, to ensure that the boys do not grow up in an isolated environment. Sound manners and essential aspects of etiquette are cultivated.
